Oh my gosh! Did anyone else like cry when they read that? I know the exact line where I just lost it. It was the last line before the start of the last chapter. The line where it says that Dumbledore's Phoenix left! I just lost it. Of course it was 1 in the morning and I was running on 4 hours of sleep, but still!

I cried..the first thought in my head was 'it can't be true there's a twist' but about fawkes going away, that prooved it! I wasn't going to read the seventh book because I thought what's the point with him gone? but who could tear themselves from Harry Potter?

Yeah, I definitely cried when he died. I'm just glad I didn't read that part on the plane!! (I was flying to Minneapolis for a conference for work!) It took me a good 30 minutes to get myself back together!! I miss him already...

the first thought i conceived was: Dumbledore? NAH!!!
months back i heard an important character would die but Dumbledore just never occurred to me. i mean, how sad is that?!
i couldn't cry 'cos i didn't even want to believe it.

When people were guesssing that Dumvledore would die before the books came out I owuld always go "no he's not he's too important!"
but maybe he might do a Gandolf(sp) and come back to life!

Yeah, I was talking to someone about reading the book (before I had finished it) and I was adament that he wouldn't die. I was like, "he has way too much to teach Harry to die in this book!!" Just goes to show that you never know!!

I honestly (and naively) thought Dumbledore COULDN'T die. I was like no no, that didn't happen, he can't die. Yeah, I was wrong. Sigh. I cried basically from the point that he said to Harry "I'm not worried...I'm with you" until the end of the book. Then I called my boyfriend and bawled on the phone to him and he was so bewildered. I just kept saying "Dumbledore, Dumbledore" and then he figured out it was Harry Potter related and passed the phone off to one of our friends who also loves Harry Potter and we mourned together. When I read HBP the second time, I basically cried the entire way through just KNOWING what would happen.

I had always believed Dumbledore would die, from the first book. It just made sense (although I thought it would be during the final battle). So I wasn't too shocked when he was killed off, and did not burst into tears. I believe it was an excellent twist.
