Okay, I changed a bit of the trial scene and not even add Figg to it.
13 INT – INSDIE THE COURTROOM – MORNING 13
The room is dark with a spotlight on a chair in the center of the room. HARRY walks into the light.
FUDGE
You’re late!
HARRY
Sorry, sir, but…
FUDGE
Nevermind. This is a disciplinary hearing on the offenses committed under the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery and the International Statute of Secrecy by Harry James Potter of Little Whinging, Surrey.
Interrogrators are Cornelius Oswald Fudge, Minister of Magic; Amelia Susan Bones; Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement; Dolores Jane Umbridge, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister; Court Scribe…
The door loudly opens and shut close. Footsteps are heard coming toward the center.
DUMBLEDORE
Witness for the defense, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dubledore. Starting early I see. It’s a good thing I came three hours early.
FUDGE and the rest of the panel murmers. FUDGE is clearly fluster. He did not expect DUMBLEDORE to come.
FUDGE
Right…Charges…Having previously receive a letter from the Ministry of Magic, Mr. Potter produce a patronus charm in a Muggle-inhabited area, in front of a muggle!
BONES
A fully fledge Patronus?
HARRY
Yes, but…
BONES
Impressive
FUDGE
It doesn’t matter how impressive it was. The point is, this boy did magic in front of a muggle. He…
HARRY
(temper rising)
Because there were Dementors! They were going to attack me and my cousin! They-
FUDGE
A Dementor wandering into a Muggle suburb and it just happened to come across a wizard! What are the odds that…
DUMBLEDORE
I don’t think we believe the Dementors were there by coincidence. I have expressed my concerns of Dementors taking orders outside the Ministry.
FUDGE
(loudly and angrily)
There are no Dementors outside of Ministry control!
DUMBLEDORE
Well, then are you suggesting the Ministry ordered the attack on young Harry Potter?
FUDGE
That is not what this court case is about, Dumbledore. We are here because Harry Potter has broken the Underage Wizardry law many times. Do you remember the Hover Charm?
HARRY
It was Dobby the house elf!
FUDGE
A house-elf in your aunt’s and uncle’s house? Lying again, Potter.
DUMBLEDORE
The house elf in question is currently employed at Hogwarts, I will go and get him if you wish.
FUDGE
Well, what about that time when he blew up his aunt!
DUMBLEDORE
Which, I believe, Minister, you forgave him for. You understood that even the best wizards could lose their temper from time to time.
FUDGE
Well, what about all that mischief he is up to in school?
DUMBLEDORE
The Ministry is not responsible for what goes on the school grounds. Harry Potter has already served his punishment with the school.
FUDGE
Not responsible, eh? We’ll see to that.
DUMBLEDORE
Minister, this case is about Harry performing underage sorcery. However, the law states that reasonable magic is allowed to be used in cases such as Harry. So, unless you have any other evidence against Harry, let’s move on to the verdict.
